Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior claims leader in the United States (Alabama) to lead a team of commercial lines claim adjusters. You will oversee litigated and high-exposure claims, mentor staff, manage defense counsel, and drive technical leadership in coverage, damages, and reserving.

You will partner with actuarial, underwriting, and legal teams to improve processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver data-driven performance insights.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of leadership experience in a commercial lines claims environment.
• Experience managing litigated commercial liability claims and defense counsel.
• Strong knowledge of reserving practices, coverage analysis, litigation management, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to coach and develop claims professionals.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. and successfully complete a background check.
• Experience with construction defect, E&O, and EPLI claims preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of commercial lines claim adjusters.
• Supervise, mentor, coach, and support adjusters handling various claims.
• Provide technical leadership on coverage, liability, damages, and reserving issues.
• Oversee complex, litigated, and pre-litigation claims, including high-exposure matters.
• Select, retain, and manage defense counsel, including evaluating performance and budgets.
• Establish litigation strategies and monitor progress.
• Review pleadings, motions, discovery, and expert reports.
• Evaluate settlements and participate in mediations.
• Review reserves on complex and high-exposure claims.
• Collaborate with actuarial and finance on reserve adequacy and trends.
• Monitor severity, reserve accuracy, and closure rates.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
• Implement process improvements for efficiency and customer experience.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and agency partners.
• Communicate with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, mediators, and vendors.
• Prepare monthly reports on team performance and financial impact.
• Analyze loss and reserve trends to inform leadership.
