Job summary

ABA Insurance Services is seeking a Senior Claims Attorney in Shaker Heights, OH. The role focuses on investigating and adjusting professional liability, bond, and cyber claims, with strategic oversight of outside counsel and litigation strategies.

The attorney will supervise team members and ensure regulatory compliance. Requires JD or LLM with active license and willingness to obtain adjuster licensure nationwide; strong negotiation, mediation, and research skills are essential; travel may be

Qualifications

JD or LLM and current attorney license required.
Willingness to become licensed as a claims adjuster in all 50 states.
Experience in litigation, insurance coverage (professional liability, financial institution bond and/or cyber), or claims adjusting is a plus.
Detail oriented, organized and analytical with strong negotiation/mediation skills.
Must conduct legal research and communicate effectively in writing and speech.
Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Investigates and adjusts Professional Liability, Bond, and Cyber claims.
Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability.
Assigns cases to outside counsel and evaluates their performance.
Develops, prepares, and implements claims litigation strategy, including settlements and reserves.
Attends arbitrations, mediations, or trials as necessary (not attorney of record).
Provides oversight to outside counsel and mentors junior staff.
Keeps claims handling compliant with state, legal, statutory, and regulatory bodies.
