ABA Insurance Services is seeking a Senior Claims Attorney in Shaker Heights, OH. The role focuses on investigating and adjusting professional liability, bond, and cyber claims, with strategic oversight of outside counsel and litigation strategies.

Qualifications

• JD or LLM and current attorney license required.
• Willingness to become licensed as a claims adjuster in all 50 states.
• Experience in litigation, insurance coverage (professional liability, financial institution bond and/or cyber), or claims adjusting is a plus.
• Detail oriented, organized and analytical with strong negotiation/mediation skills.
• Must conduct legal research and communicate effectively in writing and speech.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Both Shaker Heights, Ohio office setting, and remote (work-from-home) candidates will be considered.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:* Investigates and adjusts Professional Liability, Bond, and Cyber claims:* Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability.* Assigns cases to outside counsel and evaluates their performance.* Develops, prepares, and implements Claims Litigation strategy, including affecting settlements / reserves within prescribed limits.* Works toward the resolution of claims files and attends arbitrations, mediations, or trials as necessary, but is not attorney of record.* Ensures compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory, and regulatory bodies.* Provides oversight and supervision to outside counsel on claims-related litigation.* Provides technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas.* Leads the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates and reviews assignments).* Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:* 6-14 years of related claims or legal experience.
