Job summary

Great American Insurance Group's Executive Liability Division seeks an Associate Claims Attorney, Claims Attorney, or Senior Claims Attorney. The role blends claim analysis, coverage evaluation, and litigation strategy within a collaborative Claims Department.

Depending on experience, job title and salary will be set. Located in Schaumburg, IL or Chicago, IL, this hybrid position requires a JD and active license, with at least two years' related experience; experience in litigation or insurance

Qualifications

• JD (Juris Doctorate) and current attorney license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Experience in litigation, insurance coverage, employment practices, or claims adjusting is a plus.
• Detail oriented, organized and possess strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed analysis of each claim.
• Evaluates coverage and liability, issues written coverage opinions and monitors file progress.
• Develops and implements claim litigation and resolution strategies.
• Provides information to underwriters and reinsurers on claims trends.
• Secures and analyzes necessary information for investigation of claims.
• Attends arbitrations or mediations as necessary.
• May affect settlements / reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations.
• Ensures timely and accurate claims payments and compliance with laws.
