Job summary

Aleut Federal seeks an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction projects in Oak Ridge, TN. You will manage mass earthwork, utilities, drainage, and site restoration, directing crews and subcontractors to meet schedule, cost, and safety targets.

The role requires field leadership, strong knowledge of civil methods, SWPPP and environmental controls, and coordination with management, clients, and vendors on federal projects.

Qualifications

• Strong field leadership, planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead multiple crews, subcontractors, and heavy-equipment operations and adjust resources to meet production goals.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil methods, sequencing, soil behavior, excavation/trenching, and earthwork production.
• Knowledge of SWPPP, erosion control, environmental BMPs, and construction safety requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, grading and utility plans, specifications, geotechnical data, and survey information.
• Effective communication with management, clients, subcontractors, craft personnel, engineers, vendors, testing agencies, and regulators.
• Strong documentation, recordkeeping, and Microsoft Word/Excel skills.
• Ability to work safely and effectively under schedule constraints and changing field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily heavy civil, earthwork, and site development operations; plan work fronts, manpower, equipment, materials, and sequencing.
• Direct crews, foremen, equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors for safe, productive execution.
• Plan and oversee mass excavation and grading, structural fill placement and compaction, underground utility installations and drainage systems, site restoration, and survey/layout verification.
• Installation and maintenance of site erosion and sediment controls.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, work packages, and contract requirements; resolve field conflicts and differing site conditions.
