Job summary

Con Edison in New York seeks a Civil Engineer to lead the Steam Projects Civil Section, delivering structural designs for steam and electric generating stations, preparing design packages, and coordinating with internal and external teams. You will supervise design efforts, manage budgets, and ensure safe, compliant field work across multiple sites.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering with relevant experience, familiarity with ASE/e codes, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 4 years of civil engineering work experience.
• Electrical engineering degree is preferred but not required.
• Experience designing/inspecting SSCs and familiarity with AISC/ACI/ASCE/NYC Building Code.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; strong cost and project documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage complete project scope: design SSCs for steam/electric plants, prepare specs and budgets.
• Direct review of construction documents; coordinate with external consultants and teams.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental programs are implemented on projects.
• Provide field support, investigate issues, and respond to emergencies 24/7 when needed.
• Travel to Con Edison sites to oversee work and ensure compliance with standards.
• Mentor staff and supervise in-house and external design efforts.
