Job summary

Con Edison in New York is seeking a seasoned Civil Engineer to lead the Steam Projects Civil Section, managing complex design and construction efforts for power generation facilities.

The role requires strong leadership, project management, and coordination with internal teams and external agencies; readiness for 24/7 emergency support and site travel. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering with PE preferred; proficiency in MS Office and building code knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 8 years of experience or Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
• Experience in structural engineering and design of SSCs; familiarity with steel, concrete, masonry structures.
• Knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE, NYC Building Code; building envelope restoration and facility inspections.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; project management experience including field inspections and bid packages.
• Familiar with design analysis tools such as STAAD, SAP2000, AutoCAD, MathCad; knowledge of regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage complete projects: engineering and design of SSCs for steam and electric generating stations; bid preparation and budgeting.
• Prepare and review design packages and construction documents; coordinate external consultants and designers.
• Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental programs and company policies.
• Investigate, evaluate, and respond to engineering requests on generating station SSCs.
• Supervise both in-house and external design efforts; provide 24/7 field support for emergencies.
