Senior Civil Structural Engineer
Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) is the US Department of Energy’s leading facility for the safe removal, treatment, and disposal of radioactive tank waste. The project encompasses the closure of legacy waste tanks holding 56 million gallons of hazardous material.
About the Role
H2C seeks a Structural Engineer to join the Design Services organization. The Engineer will develop design concepts, perform structural analysis, and support construction and quality‑control activities on site.
Pay Range
- Base Pay: $117,225 / yr – $179,113 / yr
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles, theories, and concepts to structural problems.
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design documents (plans, specifications, estimates).
- Perform structural analysis and calculations using STAAD.Pro, MathCad, AutoCAD, and other software.
- Prepare technical reports, quantities, and cost estimates.
- Review design plans, shop drawings, and construction documents.
- Provide field inspection, construction services, and investigations.
- Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and client representatives.
- May serve as a group design technical lead and assist management with technical work plans.
- Perform training and maintain professional development as required.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 19: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline; nine (9) years of experience.
- Grade 20: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline; ten (10) years of experience.
- Grade 21: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline; twelve (12) years of experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with nuclear engineering applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Three or more years of combined design, analysis, inspections experience.
- Proficiency with IBC, ASCE, AISC, ASTM, ACI codes and standards.
- Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD.Pro, and SmartPlant Foundation.
- EIT, PE, or SE license.
