AKRF, Inc. in New York City seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead public roadway and infrastructure design for NYC and NY state agency projects, fostering collaboration and shaping the future of regional infrastructure.

The successful candidate will mentor staff, manage design production and project schedules, and coordinate with agencies to deliver high-quality, timely solutions while adhering to safety and sustainability best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required).
• 5–10 years of related experience.
• PE license in New York preferred (or ability to obtain within 6–12 months).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
• Knowledge of MicroStation/OpenRoads a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design and production of plans, specifications, and deliverables for capital improvement projects in the New York City region.
• Serve as the discipline lead providing direction, delegation, and mentoring staff engineers.
• Manage project tasks, schedules, and budgets, and support overall project management responsibilities.
• Oversee day-to-day project communication and coordination with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables while managing multiple deadlines in a collaborative, detail-oriented, and client-focused manner.
