Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, or a related field.
  • Four years of professional work experience in civil rights compliance, including overseeing, advising, or ensuring compliance in an education setting.
  • Master's degree in education, human resources or a related field (or law degree) may substitute for more experience.
  • Knowledge of civil rights laws and policies (Title VI/Title VII/Title IX, ADA, Section 504) and related regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations into possible civil rights violations and ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Acts as Title IX Coordinator for the Complex Area and guides school administration on compliance.
  • Acts as Language Access Coordinator and assures compliance under Title VI across the Complex Area.
  • Acts as Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator for the Complex Area and advises on accommodations for employees with disabilities.
  • Provides guidance on Title VII compliance and related department policies.
  • Provides consultation to school administrators on discrimination, harassment, and bullying per Hawaii rules.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
