Job summary

Client Organization in San Diego, California seeks an experienced Civil Project Engineer Manager to lead land development projects, manage engineering teams, and coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies.

This on-site, full-time role requires a PE license, 5+ years of civil engineering, and strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills. Compensation is $130,000–$160,000 plus benefits; the position emphasizes project delivery, budgets, schedules, and client service.

Qualifications

• PE license is mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership, project management, or supervisory experience.
• Strong background in land development and site design.
• Experience with private civil engineering or engineering consulting firms.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil engineering and land development projects from conceptual planning through construction.
• Oversee conceptual, preliminary, and detailed civil engineering design.
• Evaluate land use, zoning, infrastructure requirements, site constraints, and regulatory requirements.
• Review and develop grading plans, utility plans, construction documents, and public improvement plans.
• Provide technical direction and engineering guidance to project teams.
• Conduct technical and constructability reviews to ensure project quality and compliance.
• Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions for complex site and infrastructure challenges.
• Ensure project designs comply with California engineering standards, codes, and permitting requirements.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, contracts, and deliverables.
• Monitor project progress, financial performance, schedules, resources, and overall project execution.
• Coordinate with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies regarding project approvals and permitting.
• Prepare fee proposals, scopes of work, contracts, and project documentation.
• Ensure projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budgets.
• Lead and supervise teams of civil engineers, designers, and technical staff.
• Provide technical direction, mentoring, coaching, and support to project team members.
