Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Nuclear Engineer I or II (Electrical Procurement) to support procurement engineering at the McGuire Nuclear Plant. The role focuses on equivalency evaluations, commercial-grade dedication packages, and QA testing, with emphasis on cost-effective solutions and adherence to regulatory guidance.

The position requires understanding of engineering principles, testing theories, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute.
• 2–4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer II; 0–2 years for Engineer I.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering equivalency evaluations and commercial-grade dedication packages.
• Provide cost-effective engineering and testing solutions to meet design requirements and safety margins.
• Evaluate prudent, cost-effective procurement alternatives while meeting schedules and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory guidance in the nuclear industry.
• Prepare technical reports, test reports, and documentation for routine engineering and dedication work.
• Develop positive working relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
