Job summary

City of Chesapeake seeks a qualified professional with a bachelor's degree in construction/project management or related field and at least six years of relevant experience. A valid driver’s license and a Professional Engineer license are required, with readiness to work beyond standard hours during emergencies or special projects.

Candidates should be prepared to operate within city standards and coordinate across departments to manage complex projects from planning to execution.

Qualifications

• Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, planning, public administration, architecture, urban design, or closely related field.
• Minimum of six years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.
• Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards.
• Professional Engineer License required.
• Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
