Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Water & Sanitation to join their established team in East London, Eastern Cape. You will lead water supply, reticulation, wastewater collection, and treatment projects for municipalities and communities, from concept through construction supervision.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a Water/Environmental specialization, ECSA Pr.Eng registration, and 8+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water and/or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in water and sanitation engineering projects.
• Proficient in hydraulic modeling software (EPANET, SWMM, SewerGEMS).
• Strong understanding of water quality, treatment processes, and public health standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities and experience leading project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and implementation of water supply, distribution, and treatment systems.
• Manage the design of wastewater collection networks, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
• Conduct feasibility studies, hydraulic modeling, and network analysis for water and sanitation systems.
• Prepare detailed design reports, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Oversee project execution, including construction supervision and quality control.
• Liaise with municipal clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices in water and sanitation engineering.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation effectively.
• Mentor and guide junior civil engineers and technicians involved in water and sanitation projects.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies for water and wastewater management.
