Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support water-related projects for a diverse client base. You will join a diverse, dynamic team applying the latest technologies to analyze, rehabilitate, renew, and expand critical water systems.

The role requires a strong background in conveyance with site/civil design experience in water projects, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists. Domestic and/or international travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve basic to moderately complex engineering designs for water and wastewater facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines and pump stations.
• Ensure all project designs comply with state and local regulations.
• Contribute to CDM Smith’s technical leadership by preparing technical papers, abstracts, and conference presentations.
• Collaborate with sales and client service teams to prepare proposals in response to RFPs.
• Meet with current and prospective clients to understand evolving design needs.
• Represent CDM Smith at conferences and professional symposia to foster client relationships.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff; delegate tasks effectively and support staff development within the discipline.
