Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support water-related projects in the Portland area. You will join a diverse team applying the latest technologies to analyze, rehabilitate, renew, and expand water and wastewater systems.

You will lead design efforts for facilities, pipelines, and conveyance while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes independent work, mentorship of junior staff, and collaboration with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
• EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve basic to moderately complex engineering designs for water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, and conveyance.
• Ensure all project designs comply with state and local regulations.
• Perform site reviews and field studies to align with location specifications.
• Contribute to CDM Smith’s technical leadership through papers and presentations.
• Collaborate with sales and client service teams to prepare proposals (RFPs).
• Mentor junior staff and guide project teams.
