Job summary

GSI Environmental Inc. seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our stormwater and water resources practice. The role focuses on civil design for diverse environmental projects, including site grading, drainage, and stormwater systems, with some CA-based work and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
• At least 10 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California, or ability to obtain California licensure.
• Experience with site civil and water-related design, including grading, drainage, stormwater infrastructure, pumping systems, and related site and water infrastructure.
• Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience managing projects and/or design tasks.
• Familiarity with California stormwater regulations and permitting preferred, but not required.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support civil design projects, including site grading and drainage, stormwater management and treatment, conveyance and pumping systems, and other site and water infrastructure.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
• Provide technical review and QA/QC of civil design work prepared by junior engineers and designers.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, technical approach, and coordination with clients and project teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and CAD staff to develop practical and constructible design solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
• Support permitting and coordination with regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including submittal review, RFIs, site observations, and design modifications.
• Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and other activities supporting project and practice growth.
