Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced engineer to lead complex designs across water and civil infrastructure projects in the United States. You will sign off on layouts, hydraulics, and foundations while ensuring compliance with regulations and firm standards.

Role includes mentoring junior team members, contributing to technical papers, and collaborating with sales on client proposals. Domestic travel may be required to support project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license required; 7 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally; travel frequency varies by project.

Responsibilities

• Creates and signs off on basic to highly complex engineering designs spanning site layout, grading, hydraulics, water distribution, collection systems, tanks and foundations.
• Reviews drafts for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and firm policies.
• Performs site reviews and updates design requirements to align with location specifications.
• Produces technical papers and design documentation; submits for publishing when appropriate.
• Collaborates with sales to prepare proposals in response to RFPs and reviews drafts for regulatory adherence.
• Mentors junior staff and may supervise engineers on project work.
