WHKS & Co. seeks an experienced Civil Engineer to work on municipal, transportation, and infrastructure projects, both in the office and in the field. The role covers design, management, and coordination with clients and teammates to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Requirements include a B.S. in Civil Engineering, 5+ years in municipal/transportation design, and an Illinois P.E. license or eligibility within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Illinois P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5+ years of experience in municipal or transportation design.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and peers.
• Excellent computer skills; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley CONNECT.

Responsibilities

• Municipal utility, drainage, roadway, site design, and other engineering support functions.
• Coordinate with engineers and technicians on a variety of tasks in a collaborative team environment.
• Perform project management duties, including communication with clients to build relationships, review needs, and secure contracts.
• Design and prepare roadway construction documents, erosion control, maintenance of traffic, drainage, signing, and ROW plans.
• Perform other design-related tasks such as quantity calculations, geometric calculations, roadway layout, grading, and utility layouts.
• Develop 3D models using Bentley CONNECT or Civil 3D software.
• Provide oversight of CADD technicians to verify accuracy and quality of work.
• Perform construction observation, including testing, reporting, logs, and pay reviews.
