Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • E.I. certification or FE exam planned within 6 months.
  • 0–5 years of transportation design experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong oral and written communication; team-oriented.
  • Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, or OpenRoads Designer desirable.
  • Knowledge of MnDOT specifications is a plus.

As an entry-level transportation engineer, you will work closely with a team of engineers to play a vital role in the design of municipal, transportation and other infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for transportation projects such as new roadway, pavement rehabilitation, intersection improvements, freeway interchanges, maintenance of traffic, drainage ditches, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for municipal projects such as sanitary and storm sewer improvement, roadway resurfacing and maintenance, closed drainage systems, lead water service line replacement, watermain improvements, utility plans, bike trails and shared-use paths.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for site development projects such as parking lots, closed drainage systems, drainage detention, driveway design, residential subdivisions, school drop off areas, and parks and recreation areas.
  • Develop 2-D and 3-D models using MicroStation and OpenRoads software.
  • Assist with facilitating project-related public information meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • E.I. certification or ability to take the F.E. exam within 6 months
  • 0 – 5 years of experience in transportation design
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent computer and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) specifications and procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to manage workload independently.
