Job summary

Pennoni in Leesburg, VA is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to lead Land Development projects on a full-time basis at our Leesburg office. You will oversee design, permitting, and coordination across disciplines, with a focus on stormwater, grading, and site access.

The role requires a Civil Engineering background, E.I.T. certification, and 4+ years of relevant experience, with P.E. in VA preferred. Strong communication and mentorship are valued in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably land development.
• E.I.T. certification required.
• P.E. license in VA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of Land Development Plans including drawings, specs and reports from schematic through construction.
• Coordinate permits for large-scale projects with regulatory agencies.
• Perform zoning interpretation and prepare feasibility studies and site access drawings.
• Prepare site grading plans including pedestrian access, parking, and buffers.
• Contribute to stormwater management design and H&H modeling.
• Utilize ordinances/regulations to ensure permitting compliance and engage with regulatory agencies.
• Support project efforts and interface with clients and team members through meetings and on-site visits.
• Nurture client relationships and mentor junior staff; provide quality control of designs and reports.
• Prepare proposals and track project budgets for profitability.
