Job summary

Giffels Webster in Birmingham, Michigan, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Oakland County office on high-profile land development projects that improve southeast Michigan. You will work independently with architects, developers, and owners, supported by a Project Manager, handling site plans, grading, utilities, stormwater and permit work, with a hybrid schedule possible.

Required: ABET-accredited engineering degree, 5+ years Civil Engineering experience, AutoCAD experience; preferred

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
  • At least 5 years of Civil Engineering experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software is required.
  • Exposure to Municipal and/or Private Development projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Site plan layout and geometrics.
  • Grading and pavement design.
  • Utility (storm, sanitary, and water) design.
  • Stormwater management and green infrastructure design.
  • Traffic plans and details.
  • Prepare permit applications and cost estimates.
  • Attend meetings and conduct field visits.
  • Perform construction administration tasks.

Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Oakland County office located in Birmingham, Michigan. As a Senior Engineer you will work on high-profile land development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in southeast Michigan.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently on various engineering projects and assist a wide variety of client types from architects, developers, property owners and real estate professionals. You will work in a team environment led by a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager on a variety of tasks.

  • Site plan layout
  • Geometrics
  • Grading
  • Pavement design
  • Soil erosion and sediment control
  • Utility (storm sanitary and water) design
  • Stormwater management and green infrastructure design
  • Traffic plans
  • Details
  • Record drawings and specifications
  • Prepare permit applications and cost estimates
  • Attend meetings
  • Conduct field visits
  • Perform construction administration tasks

Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
  • You have an engineering degree from an ABET accredited university or equivalent amount of applicable experience.
  • At least 5 years of Civil Engineering experience
  • Must have experience in AutoCAD software
  • Exposure to Municipal and/or Private Development projects
Preferred qualifications:
  • PE licensure in Michigan (or seeking to obtain)
  • Experience in Civil3D
  • Experience with water and sanitary design
  • Experience in WaterCAD or WaterGems
  • Experience working with MDOT Local Agency Programs
