Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join our Mid-Atlantic team. The role supports multi-disciplinary utilities projects and requires strong communication and client service, with land development experience as a key asset.

The position offers hybrid work and travel within Maryland/DC for site visits and project meetings, with potential bases near Mechanicsburg, Hunt Valley, Baltimore, DC, Wilmington, or Bridgeport.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering required (Civil/Environmental).
  • 12+ years related experience including 5+ years PM.
  • Knowledge of Maryland and local regulations; land development preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of project execution including organization, delivery, subcontractor management, scheduling, financial management, health and safety stewardship, and reporting.
  • Nurture and grow client relationships and contracts for complex, multi-disciplinary utility and pipeline projects.
  • Lead, grow and mentor staff – supporting career goals.
  • Oversee pursuits, allocate resources, define client needs, and manage engineering within budget.
  • Lead technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams and ensure quality standards.
  • Devise new approaches to problems and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate on design/construction management programs and client relationships.
  • Build relationships with technical and client service teams and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams of clients and stakeholders.

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join our growing Mid-Atlantic engineering team. With expanding opportunities in the region in the utilities market, the ideal candidate will join our high achieving, fast-paced team. The project work will be multi-disciplinary in nature, but experience with land development is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide timely solutions and responsiveness to our clients are valued attributes for this position. This position offers the opportunity for hybrid work. Travel within Maryland/DC for site visits and various project meetings will be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leading, growing and mentoring staff – supporting the achievement of professional career goals.
  • Oversee pursuits, designate the appropriate resources to projects, define client needs, address client concerns and manage engineering resources within budget.
  • Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving customer value.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Collaborate on a program of design and construction management projects striving for continuous improvement in process development and execution.
  • Build relationships with technical and client service teams and within client organizations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams of clients and stakeholders.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering required; Civil or Environmental Engineering degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of related experience, including 5+ years of project management.
  • Demonstrated project related experience and knowledge of applicable federal, state (Maryland), and local laws and regulations required.
  • Experience with County land development regulations/regulators is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education (Including any required Certifications)
  • B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain PE within 6 months.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Client facing relationships with private energy companies.
  • Experience with civil design for transmission and distribution projects preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing relationships with clients and growing programs.
  • Leadership positions in industry or community organizations.
  • Supervisory experience in training, developing, and mentoring junior engineers.

Maryland: The expected salary range for the position is displayedin accordance withthe Maryland Wage Transparency Law. Finalagreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.Salary range: $116,000.00 - $197,000.00
