Job summary

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Construction Inspector to provide quality assurance and construction inspection services for large-scale building and infrastructure projects in the Los Angeles area.

The role focuses on civil construction, roadways, bridges, and related structures, requiring extensive field inspection experience and coordination with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• LADBS Deputy Inspector License in Grading or Post-Tensioning (Pre-Stressed).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience inspecting Caltrans bridge, roadway, and structure projects, or ten (10) years as Superintendent on Caltrans bridge, roadway, and structures projects.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in public works field inspection, with focus on heavy civil and roadway construction, or ten years as Superintendent on Caltrans projects.
• Proven expertise in installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
• Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, and Caltrans standards, standard plans, and specifications.
• Cal-OSHA 30-Hour training completed within the last four years.
• Ability to work in a team, independently, and with flexible schedules.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Bluebeam, PM Web, ProCore, and similar systems.
• Strong ability to review electronic contract documents, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants, clients, inspectors, engineers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive daily inspections of civil construction activities to ensure compliance with standards, contract documents, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting activities, progress, deficiencies, safety concerns, and corrective actions.
• Inspect major reinforced concrete structures, including pile foundations, roadways, bridges, and related structural elements.
• Conduct inspections for sanitary sewer and storm drain systems, including related structures per city/county standards.
• Inspect utility infrastructure, including underground utilities and related civil construction.
• Inspect street lighting and traffic signal systems per plans and requirements.
• Apply knowledge of Caltrans standards and Greenbook.
• Ensure compliance with multi-phased traffic control plans, focusing on pedestrian safety.
• Apply and enforce Cal-OSHA and project-specific safety requirements.
• Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, installed quantities, and other activities.
• Review contractor monthly progress payment requests based on completed work and schedules of values.
• Utilize PM Web, ProCore, Bluebeam, and similar tools to review plans and maintain records.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, consultants, testing agencies, and stakeholders to resolve field issues.
• Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
