Job summary

The position is full-time within the library's bargaining union staff, with evening/weekend hours during the academic year and adjusted hours in the summer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Public service experience in an academic library preferred.
• Proficient with standard computer software packages.
• Ability to learn new technologies and systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to unpack, shelve, and move library materials.
• Typing speed of 30 words per minute.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of foreign languages desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and assistance to users.
• Instruct users on library resources and information seeking.
• Assist users with research software and tools.
• Conduct library tours and explain policies.
• Locate and retrieve library materials and course reserves.
• Maintain and edit patron records and reserve items.
• Assist with holds, loans, scans, and copies.
• Support with access resources and equipment.
