Job summary

PhysicalIntelligence in San Francisco seeks a senior Build & Release Engineer to own the CI/CD pipelines, Bazel build systems, and cloud/Kubernetes infrastructure that power engineering workflows.

You will focus on developer productivity, build reliability, and scaling operations to support rapid robotics software iterations. The role emphasizes hands-on system design, automation, and cross-team enablement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating GitHub-centric development workflows at scale.
• Deep familiarity with CI/CD systems and build reliability challenges.
• Experience with Bazel or similar large-scale build systems.
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Strong instincts for developer experience and operational leverage.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate GitHub-based CI/CD systems with a focus on reliability, speed, and signal quality.
• Own and evolve Bazel-based build/test infrastructure for multi-language development (C++, Python, Rust, TS).
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based services and cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC.
• Replace manual release/provisioning/access workflows with automated, GitHub-integrated systems.
• Reduce flaky builds, failed deploys, and CI bottlenecks to speed engineering velocity.
• Partner with engineers across the stack to make builds/tests/deploys predictable and fast.
