Job summary

New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) is seeking a Children's Court Managing Attorney. This senior role oversees CCAs, paralegals, and staff to ensure safety, permanency, and well-being in the agency’s legal matters.

The position requires a JD from an accredited law school, at least five years of legal experience, and a license to practice law in NM or eligibility for a limited license within six months. Travel and long hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• Five (5) years of experience in the practice of law.
• Licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or eligible for a limited license within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation, direction, oversight, and support to Children's Court Attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
• Oversees timely filing and resolution of TPR and PG motions and timely adjudication of abuse/neglect allegations.
• Collaborates with Chief CCA, Managing Attorneys and Appellate Counsel on training, policy, and case law issues.
• Maintains positive relationships with legal and program staff, other agencies, and community partners.
