Job summary

Trident Seafoods is seeking an experienced Vessel Engineer to oversee engine room operations, maintenance, and safety for our Alaska-flagged vessels. You will manage engines, boilers, deck machinery, electrical and hydraulic systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost-effective performance.

The role requires hands-on leadership, emergency readiness, and collaboration with captain and management on projects, budgeting, and crew support.

Qualifications

• 2 years as engineer on a similar sized vessel
• 3 years as a deckhand on a similar sized vessel
• Basic firefighting skills
• Current First Aid and CPR cards

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the functionality and safety of the vessel’s engines, boilers, deck machinery, electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration and sanitary systems.
• Oversees and establishes performance standards for all vessel systems and resolves problems using appropriate techniques or concepts.
• Directs and oversees energy management, conservations and preventive maintenance programs.
• Forecasts operating costs and assists in budget preparation.
• Advises management on new developments affecting profit, schedule, costs, or inter-department relations.
