Job summary

Eastman, a global specialty materials company, seeks an experienced Chemical Engineer to support manufacturing, pilot plant, and lab-scale process improvement and scale-up within Technology. The candidate would be based near large sites (Kingsport, TN or Longview, TX) and travel as needed to Eastman’s sites worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in manufacturing support, process development, or process improvement.
• Commitment to safety and environmental awareness.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• High adaptability to adjust priorities as appropriate to respond to changes in business demands.
• Exhibits good leadership attitudes and behaviors.
• Ability to engage with external parties, suppliers, customers, etc.
• Proven ability to engage well with technicians, operators, peers, and management.
• Must be a self-starter with a focus on results; able to lead challenging projects.
• Comfortable in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote or onsite support to Eastman’s global manufacturing sites; travel >50%.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process improvement projects and initiatives.
• Propose and execute production trials and tests on lab, pilot, and manufacturing scales using DOE where applicable.
• Use a data driven approach to troubleshoot daily operational issues with operations and maintenance.
