Job summary

Eastman Chemical Company is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer to support manufacturing, pilot plant, and lab-scale process improvement and scale-up within Technology. The role is based near one of Eastman’s large sites (Kingsport, TN or Longview, TX) with travel as needed to Eastman manufacturing sites worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in manufacturing support, process development, or process improvement.
• Commitment to safety and environmental awareness.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• High adaptability to changes in business demands.
• Good leadership attitudes and behaviors.
• Ability to engage with external parties, suppliers, customers, etc.
• Proven ability to engage with technicians, operators, peers and management.
• Self-starter with focus on results and ability to lead challenging projects.
• Comfortable in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote or onsite support to Eastman’s global manufacturing sites (>50% travel).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvement projects and initiatives.
• Plan and execute production trials and tests across lab, pilot, and manufacturing scales using DOE where applicable.
• Use data-driven approaches to troubleshoot daily operational issues with operations and maintenance teams.
