Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant (Certified) to support complex patient care under physician and/or RN supervision. The Sr. MA will assist with examinations, procedures, and diagnostic studies while serving as a clinical resource and EMR super-user.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT, and BLS from AHA are required.
• Preferred: CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments, and dressing changes.
• Perform pre-visit planning and complete documentation in the EMR.
• Provide safe, patient‑centered care under physician or nurse supervision.
• Coordinate with the care team and support quality and safety initiatives.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
