WEKA is seeking a senior Designated Services Engineer to lead Ceph architecture and operations for strategic customers. You will own design, deployment, lifecycle, and performance of Ceph-based object storage environments while ensuring WEKA's five-star customer success.

Collaborate with Account Teams, Engineering, and Product to deliver reliable, scalable storage solutions. You will mentor teams, develop runbooks, and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Formación

• 10+ years in customer-facing technical roles solving complex enterprise infrastructure issues.
• 5+ years of hands-on Ceph experience in production: cluster design, deployment, upgrades, and day-2 operations.
• Strong understanding of Ceph internals and operational mechanics: MON quorum, MGR active/standby, OSD behavior, CRUSH and CRUSH maps, pools and PGs.
• Experience operating large-scale Ceph environments and navigating fleet challenges.
• Practical experience with Ceph RGW and S3 concepts (buckets, users/tenants, load balancing).
• Expertise in Linux/Unix administration in distributed environments.
• Strong troubleshooting across hardware, OS, networking, and storage layers.
• Deep understanding of networking, cloud computing, and distributed storage.
• Experience with observability and monitoring stacks (Prometheus/Grafana).
• Proficiency in Python and/or Bash; automation for monitoring and diagnostics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Architect, deploy, and operate large Ceph clusters with S3 emphasis.
• Own cluster lifecycle activities: upgrades, patching, health checks, risk remediation.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Produce runbooks, best practices, and customer-facing docs; drive reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with customer teams and WEKA Engineering to meet requirements.
• Manage multiple engagements, ensuring timely communication and outcomes.
• Participate in on-call rotations and occasional travel.
