Job summary

Daikin Applied, the world's largest HVAC company, seeks a Senior Compressor Development Engineer in Plymouth, MN onsite. You will lead design and development of centrifugal compressors, coordinate with lab teams, perform DFMEA, testing, and validation from concept to launch.

The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, experience with turbomachinery, and collaboration across teams to deliver reliable products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience; higher degree can substitute.
• Experience with turbomachinery, preferably centrifugal compressors.
• Solid understanding of stress, vibration, fatigue, and failure modes.
• Knowledge of centrifugal compressor component design such as gears and bearings.
• Experience in product testing and data acquisition for compressor validation.
• Basic skills with CAD applications.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement planning for compressor development including milestones.
• Detailed centrifugal compressor design from mechanical and electrical components.
• Assess life cycle with stress, vibration, modal, fatigue analyses.
• Lead development from customer requirements to launch.
• Derive component specifications and communicate with suppliers.
• Support DFMEA, test planning, data collection and analysis.
• Develop qualification processes and document results.
• Provide documentation for all projects throughout development.
