Job summary

Pacific Standard Environmental, Inc. is expanding its California CEMS service team and seeks an experienced technician who can independently solve difficult problems, take ownership of customer systems and help other technicians develop.

You will work closely with our service and engineering teams while taking ownership of complex field work, with travel to customer sites regionally in Northern California. The role focuses on CEMS field service, system integration and environmental compliance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant CEMS, analyzer or instrumentation experience preferred, including substantial hands-on CEMS work.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complete CEMS independently, with strong analyzer/sample-system and electrical/electronics skills.
• Practical knowledge of 40 CFR Parts 60 and/or 75, applicable air-district requirements, CEMS QA, commissioning and audit support.
• Experience with Teledyne, Thermo Scientific, California Analytical Instruments (CAI), Siemens/ULTRAMAT, AMETEK or comparable equipment.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot and maintain complete CEMS, including analyzers, probes, heated lines, sample-conditioning systems, pumps and instrumentation.
• Diagnose electrical, electronic, pneumatic and communications problems; work with PLCs, Modbus and network interfaces; interpret drawings, P&IDs and technical manuals.
• Perform calibrations and quality-assurance checks; support CGAs, RATAs, converter-efficiency, response-time and sample-system bias testing.
• Support startups, commissioning, upgrades and repairs; identify components and recommend sound technical solutions.
• Communicate clearly with customers, document work accurately and mentor developing technicians while maintaining safe work practices.

Pacific Standard Environmental (PSE) is expanding its California Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) service team. We are looking for an experienced technician who can independently solve difficult problems, take ownership of customer systems and help other technicians develop. CEMS field service, systems integration and environmental compliance support are central to our business.

You will work closely with our service and engineering teams while taking ownership of complex field work.

What you can expect

• Base pay of $55-$65/hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated capability, plus regular opportunities for paid overtime.


• Customer-site travel paid portal-to-portal at the same hourly base rate as on-site work, with applicable overtime. Business mileage is reimbursed separately, in accordance with PSE policy.


• Three weeks of paid vacation annually and nine paid holidays, subject to PSE policies.


• Medical insurance with an employer contribution, plus dental, vision, a health savings account option and group term life insurance. PSE provides a 3% employer contribution to the 401(k) retirement plan regardless of employee contribution. Benefits are subject to plan terms and eligibility.


• PSE provides a laptop, company cell phone or phone allowance, tools/test equipment, PPE and uniforms.

What you will do

What makes a strong candidate

• 10+ years of relevant CEMS, analyzer or instrumentation experience preferred, including substantial hands‑on CEMS work. Exceptional candidates with 7-9 years who already perform at a senior level are encouraged to apply.


• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complete CEMS independently, with strong analyzer/sample-system and electrical/electronics skills.


• Practical knowledge of 40 CFR Parts 60 and/or 75, applicable air-district requirements, CEMS quality assurance, commissioning and audit support. SCAQMD experience is especially valuable for the Southern California role.


• Experience with Teledyne, Thermo Scientific, California Analytical Instruments (CAI), Siemens/ULTRAMAT, AMETEK or comparable equipment. You do not need experience with every manufacturer listed.


• Strong judgment, customer communication, documentation and mentoring skills; a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation for customer‑site work. Demonstrated technical capability matters more than a particular degree.

Schedule, travel and on-call coverage

This is a hands‑on, customer‑site field position, not a remote desk job. Work is primarily regional and generally scheduled on weekdays, with regular overtime and occasional after‑hours or weekend assignments. Plan for approximately eight nights away from home per month; travel varies with customer and project needs, and assignments may occasionally extend outside your usual territory.

Technicians share on-call coverage, typically about one week every seven to eight weeks. Applicable overtime is paid; actual schedules and overtime hours vary.

We are developing more structured, innovative training and ways to share technical expertise across the team. An experienced technician can help shape that work while continuing to do meaningful hands‑on service.
