Job description

About PSE

Pacific Standard Environmental (PSE) is a specialized environmental services firm providing CEMS field service and custom-engineered monitoring solutions for industrial facilities subject to air permit requirements.

Founded in 2015, PSE is built to be a true compliance partner—technology-agnostic, highly responsive, and deeply technical.

PSE supports clients across power generation, cement, glass, waste-to-energy, landfills, maritime, and other regulated industries, delivering engineering, integration, installation, certification support, audits, DAHS evaluations, QA/QC documentation, and training.

The Opportunity

PSE is hiring an Engineering Manager to own integrated CEMS system engineering across the company. This role can be conducted remotely, though candidates based in the Western U.S. are preferred, for easier logistical alignment.

This role is for a senior CEMS systems engineer who has designed, reviewed, and commissioned turnkey CEMS and process monitoring systems and is ready to become the technical authority for a growing organization.

PSE will build its engineering team, standards, and long-term technical infrastructure around this role.

The Job

The Engineering Manager will lead the end-to-end technical execution of integrated CEMS systems, from system specification and design through fabrication review, installation guidance, and commissioning support.

This is a high-autonomy role with minimal ramp-up expected. Deep CEMS experience is assumed.

Key Responsibilities
Integrated CEMS System Ownership
  • Own system architecture, specifications, and engineering standards for integrated CEMS and process monitoring systems
  • Develop and maintain BOMs and preferred system configurations
  • Review and approve panel shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and fabrication quality
  • Serve as escalation point for complex analyzer, sampling, and integration issues
  • Develop standardized installation and commissioning guidance for field teams
  • Support complex startups, certifications, and performance testing
  • Ensure systems are engineered for reliability, maintainability, and regulatory defensibility
Customer & Project Technical Leadership
  • Act as senior technical lead in customer and project meetings
  • Translate permit and regulatory requirements into practical, defensible system designs
  • Serve as PSE’s technical authority on high-stakes or complex projects
  • Mentor engineers and senior technicians
  • Establish workflows, documentation standards, and best practices
  • Lead the formation and growth of a dedicated engineering function over time
Required Background
  • Extensive, hands-on experience designing turnkey integrated CEMS systems

Direct experience with:

  • Gas analyzers and sampling systems
  • Shelters, enclosures, and field instrumentation
  • DAHS architecture and data workflows
  • Proven experience reviewing panel shop design and fabrication
Ideal Profile
  • Senior or principal-level engineer at a CEMS integrator, analyzer systems provider, or emissions monitoring engineering firm
  • Recognized internally as a “go-to” technical expert
  • Comfortable acting as the technical authority with customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Strong engineering judgment grounded in real-world field execution
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related)
Why PSE:
  • Immediate ownership of integrated CEMS engineering
  • High autonomy and trust
  • Opportunity to build and lead an engineering organization
  • Long-term leadership path at a growing, specialized firm
