Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Field Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group to inspect and monitor highway construction at project sites. You will perform complex inspections across roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion and maintenance contexts, ensuring conformance to plans, specs and provisions.

The role requires reading construction plans, calculating materials, and communicating results to leadership.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI if required by client.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under varying supervision depending on assignment.
• Review drawings in preparation for inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
