Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Senior CEI Inspector for our Gulf Region position in East Arkansas. The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of inspection experience and be able to work nights and weekends as required.

The role involves reviewing plans, testing materials, and ensuring compliance with contract documents and standards on active projects. Responsibilities include field inspections, documentation of daily activities, and coordination with contractors, utility owners, and property

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of progressive inspection level experience.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Commitment to safety philosophy and program in all operations.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
  • Test materials; review plans; analyze engineering-related data; conduct construction surveys/layout.
  • Maintain daily diaries on project operations and address constructability issues to mitigate delays.
  • Monitor contractor operations and review test reports to ensure conformance with plans and contract provisions; inspect relocation work as needed.
  • Document pay records, perform construction calculations, and enter data into computer systems.

Job description

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region located in East Arkansas.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have at minimum 8 years of inspection experience.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
  • Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering-related data; and construction survey/layout
  • Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to contractor’s progress
  • Monitoring contractor's daily operations and performing and/or reviewing test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
  • Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
  • Anticipating contractual problems and advising supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
  • Ensuring compliance with AR EPSC standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with the permits
  • Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects
  • Performing acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and inputting test results into various computer databases
What you need to have:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required
  • Commitment to applying safety philosophy and program to all operations
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
