Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Senior CEI Inspector for our Gulf Region team, located in East Arkansas. The ideal candidate brings at least 8 years of progressive inspection experience and a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery of projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 8+ years of progressive inspection experience.
• Ability to perform moderate physical activity (walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing).
• Ability to lift 70 lbs.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
• Pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
• Test materials, review plans, and analyze engineering data; conduct field surveys/layouts.
• Maintain daily diaries and resolve constructability issues to mitigate delays.
• Monitor contractor operations and verify test reports for conformance to specs and permits.
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations; input data into databases.
• Advise supervisor on plan revisions or contract adjustments to improve safety and delivery.
• Ensure AR EPSC standards compliance in all permitted areas and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Communicate and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays.
• Perform acceptance testing of materials in a lab environment and input results into databases.

Job description

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region located in East Arkansas.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have at minimum 8 years of inspection experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering-related data; and construction survey/layout
• Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to contractor’s progress
• Monitoring contractor's daily operations and performing and/or reviewing test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
• Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
• Anticipating contractual problems and advising supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
• Ensuring compliance with AR EPSC standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with the permits
• Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects
• Performing acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and inputting test results into various computer databases

What you need to have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 8+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
• Ability to lift 70 lbs.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required
• Commitment to applying safety philosophy and program to all operations
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
