Job summary

Volkert Inc. in Alabama seeks an experienced Senior CEI Inspector to support Gulf Region projects. This role requires 8+ years of inspection experience and a strong background in environmental and/or waterline construction.

You will inspect for compliance, review plans, document testing, coordinate with contractors, and support safety and quality through field observations and data entry. Night/weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 8+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with safety guidelines.
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
• Test materials, review plans, analyze engineering data, and perform construction surveys/layout.
• Maintain daily diaries on project operations and troubleshoot issues to minimize delays.
• Monitor contractor operations and review test reports to ensure conformance.
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations and data entry.
• Advise supervisor on contract adjustments to improve safety, delivery, or quality.
• Ensure compliance with applicable permits and standards.
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays.
• Perform acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and input results into databases.

Job description

Are we the road to your future? We are currently searching for an experienced Senior CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region located in Alabama. Experience in environmental and/or waterline construction is a plus.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 8 years of inspection experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering-related data; and construction survey/layout
• Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to contractor's progress
• Monitoring contractor's daily operations and performing and/or reviewing test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions; also monitoring utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
• Documenting pay records, performing construction calculations, and computer/iPad entry
• Anticipating contractual problems and advising supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
• Ensuring compliance with TN EPSC standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with the permits
• Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects
• Performing acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and inputting test results into various computer databases
