Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an inspector for on-site construction inspection at various project locations. The role focuses on complex highway construction inspections, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, and ensuring materials and processes meet contract requirements.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, 12 years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license. Expect 20%–40% travel and on-site fieldwork across multiple states and sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 12 years of related experience required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET may be required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to verify material usage and conformance with plans and specs.
• Use advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under varying supervision according to project needs.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
