Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to perform complex and routine highway construction inspections at project sites across multiple locations. You will evaluate materials and processes, reading plans and specs, and ensuring conformance to contract provisions.

The role requires strong math skills, the ability to learn new tools, and effective communication in English. The position involves 20%–40% travel, supervising junior inspectors when needed, and heavy emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity (ACI/NICET) as required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required, depending on duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction conform to plans and specs.
• Use advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to knowledge level.
• Review drawings and prepare for inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
