Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site inspector to perform complex construction inspections across roadway, drainage, and related categories at project sites. The role requires interpreting plans and specs, documenting results, and communicating with supervision.

Travel to multiple project locations may be required. The candidate should have high school diploma with relevant certifications and possibly 12 years of related experience; a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English (oral/written).
• Intermediate math including geometry/trigonometry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
• Able to quickly learn new tech and programs.
• Advanced knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, equipment.
• Ability to read and explain construction plans, drawings, specs.
• Experience leading and instructing inspectors.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction follow plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use advanced equipment and perform calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to knowledge level for the assignment.
• Review drawings and prepare for inspections.
• Document results and communicate findings to supervisor.
