Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Cashiering Operations Associate to own client money movement across ACH, wires, RTP, checks, and journals. You will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant cash processing while strengthening controls and reducing risk within a fast-paced fintech environment.

You will collaborate with custodians, banking partners, and internal teams, maintaining strong documentation in Salesforce and internal systems. Remote work is supported globally.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years in financial services, brokerage ops, banking, or cashiering.
Direct experience processing money movements (ACH, wires, RTP, checks, journals).
Experience with custodians, clearing firms, or banks.
Strong operational risk and fraud controls mindset.
High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Own and strengthen controls across money movement workflows, ensuring policy and regulatory adherence.
Review, validate, and approve money movement requests (ACH, wires, RTP, checks, journals).
Process and release transactions accurately within SLAs.
Reconcile daily cash movements and settlement activity.
Monitor exceptions, returns, and discrepancies; escalate as needed.
Serve as primary operational contact for custodians and banking partners.

Your Role:

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Cashiering Operations Associate to own client money movement across ACH, domestic and international wires, RTP, checks, and internal journals.

This role is accountable for timely, accurate, and compliant cash processing, with a strong mandate to strengthen operational controls, reduce risk, and drive process quality. You will operate with a high degree of independence, exercise judgment on complex and high-risk transactions, and serve as a key partner to custodians and banking partners. The ideal candidate brings deep money-movement expertise, a control-first mindset, and clear ownership of outcomes in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Ops Control Framework & Oversight

Own and continuously strengthen controls across money movement workflows, ensuring adherence to firm policies, regulatory expectations, and data privacy standards
Review, validate, and approve client money movement requests (ACH, wires, RTP, checks, journals) in accordance with firm policies
Process and release transactions accurately and within established SLAs
Reconcile daily cash movements, deposits, and settlement activity to ensure accurate posting
Monitor and resolve exceptions, returns, rejects, and transaction discrepancies
Serve as a primary operational point of contact for custodians and banking partners
Prepare and review daily and monthly operational reports, including transaction coding oversight
Maintain accurate documentation and case tracking in Salesforce and internal systems
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and data privacy standards
Identify operational risks and elevate suspicious or high-risk transactions appropriately
Support audits, reporting requirements, and special projects as needed
Partner with Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Technology to design and implement process improvements
Train and coach internal teams; contribute to playbooks, SOPs, and onboarding for cashiering workflows

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field — or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in financial services, brokerage operations, banking, or cashiering
Direct experience processing money movements (ACH, wires, checks, journals, RTP preferred)
Experience interacting with custodians, clearing firms, or correspondent banks
Strong command of operational risk and fraud controls
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Clear, confident written and verbal communication with internal stakeholders and external partners
Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and elevate issues with context and recommendations

Preferred Experience

Experience in fintech or high-growth environments
Prior ownership of SOPs, control frameworks, or audit support for cash/money movement operations
Experience mentoring or training operations team members
