Job summary

Nokia is seeking a talented and experienced System Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will analyze carrier networking environments and create optimized solutions, collaborating with Marketing, PLM, Sales, Optical, and Software Engineering to ensure seamless design and deployment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics required; PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with 3+ years in 3rd party network design or optimization tools.
• Working knowledge of carrier-class networking architecture (WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet).
• Functional experience in sales engineering or product management is essential.
• Proficiency in scripting with Excel, Matlab, Python or similar tools.
• Experience with DWDM provisioning, installation, and testing is a plus.
• Strong SQL, relational databases, and programming skills (Perl, C++, Java, VB).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP/RFQ Network Design responses and network optimization.
• Serve as SME, guiding field teams for network planning and deployment.
• Research and develop technical specifications, evaluating vendor and internal options.
• Create tools and resources to empower sales engineers in designing network responses.
• Conduct economic analysis of networking models and emerging technologies.
• Analyze network designs and economic implications of roadmap features.
• Collaborate with Marketing, PLM, Sales, and Engineering to align on network solutions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and standards to keep solutions cutting-edge.
