Trident Transport is seeking a Cargo Claims Specialist to resolve complex claims with customers, shippers, consignees and carriers. You will evaluate settlements within authority and coordinate with operations to move damaged products.

This role emphasizes data-driven analysis and timely communication. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of cargo/insurance claims experience, strong written and verbal communication, and proficiency with Excel and claims databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and claims processing experience.
• Experience handling complex cargo and/or insurance claims (1–3 years).
• Familiarity with DOT and federal transportation regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and claims database software.

Responsibilities

• First line of contact for claims and answer questions for carriers, customers, and brokers.
• Collect information from callers on incidents including wrecks, cargo damage and property damage.
• Provide insurance certificates when requested by customers.
• Use data and trend analysis to identify root causes of freight damage and recommend counter measures.
• Review contractual agreements and analyze damage reports; communicate results within 72 hours with action plans to management.
• Notify involved parties of claim filings or rejected claims and coordinate with Operations.
• Enter and track claims in the TMS system.
• Order inspections and evaluate reports to support claim resolution.
• Escalate with External Claims Adjusters as needed.
• Negotiate settlements and process final case paperwork with relevant parties.
