Job summary

The George Washington University Law School Career Development Office seeks an Assistant Director of Career Counseling to guide JD students and recent graduates in career planning, resume development, interview prep, and professional skills. The role reports to the Director, Career Counseling and Professional Development and works with alumni and employers to enhance opportunities.

Qualifications

• J.D. plus two years of experience at a law firm, legal search firm, or in-house legal department post-admission to a state bar or the District of Columbia Bar are strongly preferred.
• Counseling experience with law students or young lawyers preferred.
• Excellent presentation skills in live and virtual settings.
• Knowledge of career practices within local, national, and global legal communities.

Responsibilities

• Advise JD students on career goals, resume, and interview preparation.
• Coordinate Inns of Court program and deliver program content.
• Share employment opportunities and support the full lifecycle recruitment for entry‑level attorney positions.
• Collaborate with Employer Outreach Team for recruiting programs and events.
• Develop and conduct skills workshops on resume writing, networking, and interviewing.
• Organize seminars, workshops, and panels with alumni and student groups.
• Promote Career Development Office programs to students, alumni, and employers.
