Job summary

Discovery Senior Living in Carroll, IA is seeking a Caregiver/Med Tech to provide hands-on care and support to residents in a safe, home-like environment.

The role includes daily living activities, medication assistance, charting, and collaboration with nurses and coordinators. CNA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred.
• High School diploma/GED
• Must be 18 years of age.
• CPR Certification preferred
• First Aid Certification preferred
• Previous experience working with seniors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; checks on residents throughout the shift.
• Observes, reports and documents symptoms and conditions of residents.
• Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly.
• Notifies supervisor/Health Care Coordinator if care needs increase.
• Assists with continence management and sanitation.
• Serves meals and assists as needed; reports refusals.
• Maintains cleanliness of residents' rooms and work areas.
• Promotes independence and safety.
• Assists with activities of daily living and life enrichment.
• Greets and assists residents, family members, and staff.
• Performs resident laundry as assigned.
• Reviews service plans for medications; observes medications and treatments.
• Documents medication administration and refusals.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident information.
• Reports concerns to Nurse/HCC.
• Counts narcotics with another clinician each shift.
• Maintains Medication Room and carts.
• Follows refill process for medications.
• Contributes to Service Plan updates.
• Takes measurements (temp, BP, weight, pulse, resp).
• Reports exposure to hazards.
• Other duties as assigned.
