Job summary

Good Samaritan Canistota is seeking a Medication Assistant (MA) to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. You will assist with basic health needs, vital signs, and documentation while maintaining a positive dining and living environment.

This role administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and supports wellness programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Annual competency testing and continuing education credits required.
• A valid driver's license and auto insurance may be needed.
• CNA certification must be maintained per state requirements (SD/MN/ND/IA).
• Active CNA registration or ability to obtain within 120 days required in applicable states.

Responsibilities

• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Documents care outcomes, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Collects non-invasive specimens and vital signs.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry services and participates in wellness/recreational programs.
