Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. seeks an experienced PA, Surgical Assistant, or House Physician with a minimum of 2 years in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Strong OR skills, sterile technique, and teamwork are essential to support surgeons and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include patient positioning, sterile prep, catheter insertions, and effective instrument handling under supervision, with a focus on high-quality perioperative care and collaboration with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in PA/SA/House Physician roles, preferably in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Ability to work effectively with surgeons and OR team while ensuring patient safety.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient positioning and transfers pre/post-operatively.
• Maintain licensure and CPR/BCLS certification; document on file.
• Assist in catheter insertions, draping, and prepping of patients.
• Understand anatomy/physiology relevant to procedures and patient positioning.
• Maintain sterile field and proper sharps handling throughout cases.
• Support exposure, retract tissues, and instrument handling as directed.
• Ensure proper suction, electrocautery use, and hemostasis during procedures.
• Pass ligating clips and tie knots under supervision; assist with wound closure.
