Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to act as an expert in advanced examinations and treatments.

You will support clinical care under the supervision of a Physician or Registered Nurse for assigned patient populations, including scheduling, eligibility checks, and care coordination. The role demands CMA certification, BLS, and at least five years of CMA experience in complex disease management or a specialty discipline.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years CMA experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant and BLS required; NHA/NAHP/NCCT/EMT preferred; CPT preferred.
• Strong communication and patient care skills; ability to work with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Role models and supports interprofessional care teams to achieve department goals.
• Communicates with patients and documents vitals, chief complaints, and visits in EMR.
• Performs routine examinations, procedures, and documentation under physician or nurse supervision.
• Coordinates patient care with providers, follow-ups, and MyChart activation as appropriate.
• Provides clinical mentorship and training to Medical Assistants as a preceptor.
